Sidney vanNeerden is a photographer and painter based in Wilmington Delaware. She is graduating in the spring of 2025 from University of Delaware with a bachelors in Fine Arts.

My work explores the deep, interwoven relationships between nature, memory, and human connection. Using photography, cyanotype printing, and painting, I seek to capture the fleeting yet enduring imprints of the natural world and its role in storytelling. Through experimental processes that involve direct engagement with the land, whether tracing the medicinal plant knowledge of the Hadza in Tanzania or documenting the fluid landscapes of Delaware’s waterways. I strive to create visual narratives that honor the histories embedded in place.

At its core, my work invites reflection on the ways nature bears witness to human experience. Whether through textured layers of paint, photographic impressions, or fabric-based installations, I seek to create spaces for viewers to connect with the raw beauty of the natural world—spaces where memory, history, and place converge.
